Firefox 2.0 Alpha is here!
Revolved by Paolo Gagliardi in Flammable on 19/03/2006

Mozilla is about to gift us again with a faster, more stable and generically better Firefox major release. Please note that it's still a Alpha version, which means it does not contain all new expected features, it can have bugs, it can even freeze your computer. You should install and run it at your own risk!

That said, if you are so in love with Firefox that you can't wait, here are the links:

Windows EXE - firefox-2.0a1.en-US.win32.installer.exe
Windows ZIP - firefox-2.0a1.en-US.win32.zip
Mac - firefox-2.0a1.en-US.mac.dmg
Linux - firefox-2.0a1.en-US.linux-i686.installer.tar.gz
Linux - firefox-2.0a1.en-US.linux-i686.tar.gz

If you prefer waiting or you don't know Firefox and you want to familiarize with the latest supported version while our friends at Mozilla ship the official 2.0 release, then play with this.

Have fun!

/P

Thanks Digg, it's nice to see that there are still readers that like the blogging competition You should know that the blogosphere works accordingly to sending the word around. I didn't copy that information, however I wouldn't be bothered by somebody copying me. What counts is proper information reach the wider audience. Happy surfing. /P

yeah wish I read the comments. totally trashed my 1.5.01 install and I'm having to reinstall it and all my extensions rather than just rollback the new version.

You should give a heads up in an edited version of your post

No, it's not released yet...fool
di Vesa il 20/03/2006 14:03

Guys, the distribution had been pkaced on Mozilla's FTP server in the /pub area. "dc", I agree with you that maybe I could have given a stronger warning, but I said that it's a Alpha release with all its consequences. "Vesa", no comments for you.

Please link to http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla1.8/ as the Tinderbox is the worst to link to.

I think Firefox is excellent. The only problem I have is that it loads too slowly. I hope they have figured out a way to speed-up how fast the browser loads.

Thanks for your comments folks. With regards to performance and behaviour of this new release, if you like the idea, just drop me your notes and comments at pgagliar@gmail.com so that I can put an article together and display it on this blog. I guess the Mozilla's fellows will love seeing some alpha-testing reports from the blogosphere

For the kind gentlemen (DAINJAH and HELL RIDER) making those funny comments, I suggest you read this new post from me, so you can see those links actually do connect to the 2.0 Alpha:

It seems change a lot, where can we download the code resource?
di Rick il 23/03/2006 05:03

Don't install the Alfa version unless you're a Mozilla developer! It can damage your data so don't install it unless you can afford data lost, crashes and so on. The alfa and beta version are for developers only.
